Exposure to different elements can occur during construction or over a life time of the poles, when used outdoors. Heavy oil treatments give a high degree of protection but are unsuitable for decorative uses.
There are two large groups of timber, each with distinct botanical features. They are known as hardwoods and softwoods. The Eucalyptus is commonly referred to as hardwood. Not because of their physical hardness but rather a broad botanical class of timber.

Consisting of thin gum poles that are mainly used in fencing, our droppers are CCA treated to give you piece of mind when it comes to your fence. Droppers are thicker than your average laths, and when constructing a panel, the average usage is 23 droppers per meter when spaced together.
These are thin gum poles that are mainly used horizontally in lapas and thatch roofs. Many people use these laths for decoration on fences and “lapas”. They are also CCA treated to prevent rotting and wood borers such as termites.
Everyday uses for laths include making screens, pergolas and carports. Rule of thumb: the shorter the lath, the less they taper from top to bottom. The average usage when constructing a panel of laths is 30 laths per meter when spaced together. (H3 Treatment)
